| The Ellis School of English, C. Ellis, is the new name of an English language school founded in 1983. The owner, Catrina Ellis, has established a career of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching since 1980. From a family of British University graduates, Mrs. Ellis conducted all her primary, secondary and further education studies in English schools. Her first teaching post was at the Berlitz School in Lausanne. After that, she took on replacement work in various Lausanne and Geneva schools, before starting the TIE school, the prototype of The Ellis School of English. This was very successful, but Mrs. Ellis stopped this activity at the birth of her first child. She later re-started teaching English, initially to individuals at home. In 1997-1998, she re-started her professional career in the current classrooms, initially under her own name and, from April 2000 under the name of The Ellis School of English, C. Ellis. For her teaching, she uses specialised text books, complemented by her own publications.
